The Key to Winning Every Rep

Hello Champion:

Sports have countless factors that go into determining each and every game.

At the end of the day, it’s pivotal for each athlete to do their job

As long as everyone on the field does their job, then success will follow for the larger unit. Remember, you are not able to control anyone’s actions besides your own. Control what YOU can control.

Things like bad referee calls, injuries, opposing team’s conduct, your teammates actions, and opposing team’s game plan are out of your control. Let them go!

The things you ARE IN CONTROL of include:

  • Work ethic

  • Attitude

  • Being present

  • Being prepared

Focusing on these elements is the key to success.

Having your mind occupied about things you aren’t in control of will only distract you away from the ultimate goal, winning. Put simply, if your mind is off the objective at hand, that objective will fail.

No, we don't control who our parents are. We don't control what color we are. We don't control what home we are born into. But we control our attitude. We control our work ethic. We control our drive and our commitment. - Dabo Swinney

Do your assignments, get into your coverage, or get on your man. Whatever your job is during that play, focus all of your effort into completing that objective.

Check out our three tips on controlling what you can control:

  1. Write down and read a list of things you can control on a daily basis.

  2. Let go of all elements that you are not in control of.

  3. Use an accountability partner to keep you focused on doing YOUR job.

Controlling the controllables is the first step to winning.

Focusing all of your effort on the objective at hand will only help your team. Focusing on what you can’t control will only help the enemy.

Help yourself and help your team. Do YOUR job and win every rep.
