Failure is the First Sign of Success

Hello Champion:

Whether we set a short or long term realistic goal, we all should have the mentality that eventually, no matter the obstacle, we will accomplish our goal.

Unfortunately, the way that you visualized completing your goals may differ from reality, thus setbacks along the way will lead to a temporary undesired result: Failure.

As athletic-minded individuals, we never plan to fail but we know that nothing good ever comes easy. However, the truth is that it’s more likely that we fail more times than we actually succeed.

“If you are afraid of failure, you don’t deserve to be successful.”- Charles Barkley

Research shows that failure can teach you valuable lessons that give you an opportunity to grow and prepare for your next moment to be successful.

Simply put, don’t let one failure define your story. Keep going and focus on the process until you reach the success that you imagined.

Michael Jordan did not quit after he was cut from his high school basketball team.

Alex Smith did not retire after he broke his leg.

Michael Phelps did not give up after his battles with depression.

Every time that you experience failure, remember this quote:

“The bigger the failure, the greater the lesson.”

The Athlete’s Edge Journal is a great tool for athletic-minded individuals to receive the inspiration and motivation that they need after experiencing failure.
