Pressure Leads to Opportunity

Hello Champion:

What comes to mind when you think of pressure?

You are getting the ball with 5 seconds left in the game…

You are one sale short of your monthly goal…

You are preparing to coach your team in the conference championship...

Many individuals associate pressure with a negative connotation. However, the elite reframe pressure into a positive experience.

That’s not to say that pressure won’t get the best of us from time to time. At this point, you need to zoom out and take a look at the bigger picture at hand. Take in your surroundings and figure out the role you need to play to ensure success. A deep breath and connecting with teammates can go a long way!

Ultimately, if you are in the right mindset, pressure should be perceived as a good thing. It provides the opportunity for us to become better and rise up to the challenge.

Pressure is an external factor like any other that you can let affect you or counter. The choice is yours.

Our advice is to put on your blinders and block out the negative factors that hinder your performance. Stay composed on doing your job and winning that rep,.

“Everything negative - pressure, challenges - is all an opportunity for me to rise.” - Kobe Bryant

Pressure is not a factor that will go away. However, the more you prepare and overcome adversity it will give you the confidence to turn down the noise. You must let the negative fade away while you focus on your objective.

Here are three strategies to flip the script on pressure:

  1. Zoom out - Take a look at the bigger picture and realize the role you need to play that leads to success.

  2. Take a deep breath and visualize success in the moment.

  3. Reframe the negative pressure into positive energy to help you win on the field.

Remember, having great pressure gives way for great opportunities to chase your dream.
