The Culture of Go

Hello Champion:

Go to practice.

Go to class.

Go to work.

Go to ….

It never ends. We are always staying busy, and constantly comparing ourselves to others.

At the end of the day, the only person that you should be competing with is yourself. Any other game plan is unhealthy. Busyness often leads to mental breakdowns or physical injuries.

The “culture of go” is not a badge of honor, and we cannot idolize teammates who do not set proper boundaries. Again, we should not praise our peers for lack of balance in their life.

It is important to give yourself a rest. After all, life is a marathon not a sprint.

I have news for you. No one is going to remember the Friday nights you spent in the office, the email you answered at 11:00 PM, or the PowerPoint you built over a long weekend.

Therefore, we need to build activities into our schedule to recharge our batteries. See a few of our favorite strategies below:

  • Go for an hour walk or run daily

  • Disconnect from social media for 24 hours

  • Don’t check your work email before you mediate in the morning

CHALLENGE: Disconnect from technology and work this weekend. Invest in yourself by spending a few hours outdoors or in a good book. Trust us - you will thank yourself come Monday morning.

If you are looking for a way to find balance, The Athlete’s Edge Journal is a great mental performance tool that allows athletic-minded individuals an opportunity to reflect and be intentional about life.

It's time to stop putting our personal well-being on the back burner. Let’s ignite the movement together.
