The Secrets to Getting Back on Track
Hello Champion:
Nothing is better than the feeling of victory after hours of hard work and preparation.
For as much as we love to experience victory, we have an equal disdain for the feeling of defeat.
Experiencing a loss could damage confidence, cause doubts, and throw anyone off of their game.
Accepting, analyzing, and learning from your deficits is the perfect way to rebound from these moments and use them to better yourself.
Although the feeling of the defeat may initially feel depressing, low-points give us opportunities to learn more about ourselves and grow in the areas in which we are weakest.
Ultimately, it is up to you to learn from the lesson that is provided to you with each loss that you experience along your journey.
“Losing is only temporary and not all encompassing. You must simply study it, learn from it, and try not to lose the same way again. Then you must have the self-control to forget about it” - John Wooden.
Here are a few of our favorite tips to help you accept and learn from your losses.
Be honest with yourself - Did you work as hard as you could have? What went wrong in this particular game, match, or competition?
Determine where you came up short – Devote extra attention to this area of your training moving forward.
Have a short memory – Once you have reviewed your loss, take your lesson and continue moving forward. Dwelling on the past will not help you succeed in the future.
Remember, your losses do not define you, they only provide you with room to grow!
